Paralegal The candidate will work for department: Prosecutor. Performs research, reviewing computer and document files for case law and previous criminal activity of defendants. Communicates/corresponds regularly with law enforcement agencies, state Attorney General’s office, prisons, attorneys, and other counties regarding cases. Performs clerical duties, such as filing, entering data on computer, typing. Processes extraditions/detainers, communicating with other law enforcement agencies/correctional facilities, and arranging/coordinating transportation of prisoners. Maintains department law library, occasionally filing and maintaining record of borrowed materials. Periodically attends training seminars. Should have High school diploma or GED. Must have Paralegal certification. Should have working knowledge of department and standard office policies and procedures, and ability to apply such knowledge to a variety of interrelated processes, tasks and operations. Must have working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and ability to prepare documents, type with speed and accuracy, and properly operate standard office equipment, including computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, typewriter, calculator and copier. Should have ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other County departments, law enforcement personnel, and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.
