Legal Assistant The candidate ascertains and verifies business terms, negotiates, finalizes and maintains contracts, which may include physician, service, education, medical device, independent contractor and maintenance contracts. Drafts and maintains form agreements in consultation with Assistant General Counsel. Ensures contracts are in accordance with firm’s policies and procedures. Manages processing of contracts to ensure accurate and timely processing. Analyzes, reviews and researches contract questions from staff, managers, directors, physicians (depending on position), department chiefs, and senior leadership. Maintains mechanisms to ensure that current contracts are properly executed, reviewed, archived, updated and canceled. Conducts legal research into such areas as Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, Stark and Anti-Kickback statutes, provider licensure and certification, employment law, tax exemption, UCC, intellectual property, and other topics as assigned by Assistant General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or related field or equivalent experience. Legal assistant training or law degree preferred. Should have 1-2 years of experience. Knowledge of Federal, State and local regulations as they relate to contracts needed. Should have Medicare knowledge. Knowledge of Legacy policies and procedures relating to contracts preferred.
