Paralegal - Intellectual Property Under the direction of the Deputy General Counsel in charge of Intellectual Property, the candidate will be responsible for assisting in the clearance of products, brand enforcement and protection issues and marks and management of the legal repository for all international licensing documents. Must use sound, independent judgment and exercise broad authority in the daily administration of complex clearance and international licensing matters; and demonstrate significant discretion in the management of highly confidential information. Assist / support IP acquisitions, licensing, design agreements and other transactions (including research, due diligence, document preparation, etc. Draft legal correspondence and memoranda for attorney review. Conduct preliminary knock out search for names and designs using domestic and international online search engines including online trademark office databases and subscription databases. Interact with Designers on selection / use of trademarks; includes marks on product as well as color names. Review internal public / internal communications related to Brands. Assist with internal training and communications on clearance and licensing issues. Assist with all brand enforcement and protection issues. Assist with managing counterfeit investigation firms. Monitor auction sites and stand-alone websites for the sale of counterfeit goods. Initiate the take-down of counterfeit auctions and monitor other staff responsible for taking down counterfeit auctions. Maintain the legal site for international licenses and track actions. Prepare hold notices, compile information and respond to litigation discovery demands. Review outside counsel and other vendor invoices for accuracy and process payment of same; negotiate fee adjustments when deemed appropriate. Maintain files and records. Docket and correspondence management. Review and approve invoices. Perform other duties and special projects as requested. Paralegal Certificate and Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Legal, or related field required. 2+ years experience as paralegal in a corporate or law firm setting required. Pennsylvania Notary Public preferred. Proficient with IP Docketing systems, online database query searching, and intellectual property trademark databases required. High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications required. Strong: analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills; verbal and written communication skills required. Excellent judgment and use of discretion required.
