Discovery Paralegal Duties: Will take the lead role coordinating the discovery on IP or other technical litigation matters, recommending the best use of technology and applying content based case specific knowledge to drive efficient and cost-effective identification, collection, culling and review of data. Initiate the identification, collection, culling and analysis of data as well as prioritizing the review of data. Interface with outside counsel and company witnesses (i.e, engineers) to support discovery needs. Research and take initiative to self-educate on technical and design information for the patent(s) in suit. Index and track the collection of key data pertaining to the litigation matter(s). Manage the budget, workflow and relationships with the e-discovery technical and managed review vendors assigned. Develop the outlines, talking points, and other materials to support the factual investigation of the matter. Develop workflows and organizational strategies to manage the cost of Expert witness document support. Lead effort to coordinate Expert reports and testimony with internal company's subject matter experts and inventors on the patent(s) in suit. Innovate and manage most effective strategies for efficient searching and review of non-English documents. Develop strategies for translations of large universe of foreign language documents, and lead coordination of files requiring certified translations before the Court.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree. Paralegal experience will be considered. Strong background in IP or other technical litigation. Internal corporate legal experience preferred; experience understanding technical and design information a plus.. Demonstrated skills in ownership, initiative, and ability to anticipate internal and external counsel needs. Ability to effectively elaborate upon and defend a recommendation or position. Proficiency with MS Office applications with advanced skills in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint. Ability to multitask and coordinate a variety of deliverables. Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet challenging client requirements. Strong oral and written communication skills; and demonstrated experience interfacing with senior level counsel, business managers and high end stakeholders. Exceptional level of integrity and accuracy combined with strong organizational skills. Fluency in German and/or Spanish a plus.
