Intellectual Property Legal Assistant Duties: Obtaining and reviewing all incoming correspondence on patents, docketing information as appropriate, and responding to requests regarding formal documents and other requests for information. Creating response templates/forms as needed. Reviewing practitioners’ dockets daily for deadlines and actions due. Maintaining electronic docket folders Maintaining the docket database, including creating and generating reports for docket, maintenance and budget reviews. Preparing formal documents for filing, prosecuting and maintaining a patent, obtaining necessary information, signatures, notarizations, legalizations and copies of other necessary documents, submitting them to the US or PCT patent or trademark office or a Chemours foreign agent for such submittal. Resolving any issues with the document formalities. Processing applications and patents for abandonment, including written instructions to foreign agents. Reviewing invoices for maintenance, translation and filing formality services. Participating as a full member of the Intellectual Property Legal team, including identifying and actively engaging in projects to simplify work processes.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Mastery understanding and hands-on experience of the US and non-US patent processes including all formal and procedural aspects of those processes. Experienced user of PCT-Safe, USPTO (EFS and PAIR), Microsoft Office applications, Adobe® Acrobat, electronic docketing system. 5-8 years’ relevant experience. Experience with Lecorpio patent and spend management system. Ability to identify, handle and resolve significant issues regarding patent docket without support.
