Paralegal Duties: Handling a high volume of incoming calls to toll-free intake hotline and opening cases in case management database for callers eligible for legal services. Provision of legal advice and referrals under the supervision of an attorney, gathering documentation from clients, and writing follow-up letters, may be required. May be assigned as needed to meet the demands of the intake unit. Work with clients in crisis and will be expected to adhere to program and case handling standards, funder requirements, and the highest professional standards.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team; Ability to work with clients in crisis and to handle a high volume of calls; Experience and competency with Microsoft Office environment (Word, Excel, etc.); and Ability to input information efficiently into a web-based case management system. Preferred: Associates’ degree and/or paralegal certification. 1+ years working with the public. Prior experience in legal or social services or similar program. English/Spanish bilingual. Familiarity with the legal, administrative, and policy hurdles faced by clients. Excellent interviewing and problem-solving skills.
