Senior Manager, Business & Legal Affairs Duties: Provide professional support for attorneys and business units through negotiating, drafting, and managing various types of agreements; perform various clerical and administrative duties as assigned; performing a variety of both complex and routine duties requiring independence, detailed communication, and experience with deal negotiation strategies and contract drafting. Contract Negotiation, Drafting & Administration: Independently negotiate, draft and administer various types of contracts, including but not limited to independent contractor agreements and standard form publishing agreements. Track contracts and maintain contract status log through negotiation, approval and distribution process. Prepare contract files and records. Document Management: Index and analyze documents for filing, maintain legal and divisional files, records and reports, including electronic files of contracts. Respond to inquiries from clients and Business & Legal Affairs staff regarding contracts and other documents. Legal Binder Review: Perform comprehensive review of television production binders that contain contracts, personal appearance releases, and other documents associated with television production for distribution and ingestion into rights management system. Manage Confidential Background Check System: Have ownership of the process by which on-screen talent is background checked prior to program production, including working closely with a senior attorney on the review and handling of confidential materials in addition to being the main point of contact for production teams throughout the background check process. Content Protection: Respond internally to requests for the issuance of cease and desist letters and DMCA takedown requests, and then prepare the initial drafts of letters and work with a senior attorney on the execution of the actions taken. Intellectual Property Support: Work with various business unit contacts in order to facilitate the registration of copyrights for television assets. Serve as the main point of contact for FOX initiated inquiries about the copyright status of Nat Geo programming assets. Client Communication: Cultivate and maintain direct relationship with business clients and serve as the first point of contact to be able to address business needs without the need for assistance from senior attorney staff. Administrative: Administrative assistance may be required from time-to-time, including, scheduling meetings and conference calls; helping with materials for internal educational initiatives; compiling, preparing and distributing of summary materials, charts and documents; etc.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Experienced legal assistant/paralegal a must; recent law school graduates will also be considered. Must demonstrate advanced skill with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Gmail and popular database applications. Excellent research skills in addition to proficiency in use of Lexis or Westlaw, legal texts, and internet research are necessary. Must be very detail oriented, extremely organized, self-motivated, and possess strong analytical and problem solving skills. Requires superb oral and written communication skills. Must have a customer service manner, excellent professional telephone presence and have the ability to work well with others and interact directly with clients. Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality in all matters of NGP proprietary and legal affairs.
