Paralegal The candidate will track, coordinate, and manage patent portfolio matters between outside counsel and Division Patent Officer. Work with Division Patent Officer to collect documentation, verify relevancy and accuracy of documentation, develop an understanding of the documentation, review for privilege, and provide the final documents to outside counsel. This may require occasional travel and overtime work. Will assist Division Patent Officer with research and investigation. Attend project team meetings and assess team ideas for patentability. Coordinate and lead Invention Review Board meetings and track progress of invention disclosures. Manage payouts to inventors of patent incentive program order patent plaques as needed. Review and organize litigation files and handle follow-up with minimal supervision. Act as contact, liaison and key resource between outside counsel and division. Respond to requests for information from divisions. Meet deadlines and prioritize multiple projects and assignments in a timely manner, independently following up as needed. Maintain paper and electronic files and database with accuracy and ensure accessibility of information. Maintain strict confidentiality of files and information. Perform various special projects as needed. Paralegal certification is preferred. In-house legal department and/or law firm experience, 5+ years experience is preferred. Prior experience with US patent prosecution related activities is required. Prior experience with outside/foreign patent prosecution related activities is preferred. Prior experience in maintaining litigation files and utilizing and electronic database is needed. College education is required. Prior experience with patent docketing is preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills and analytical and organization skills is needed. Ability and willingness to work as part of a team with Corporate Law Department staff and division staff is essential. Computer literate with accurate typing skills of 30+ wpm is needed. Ability and confidence in utilizing Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel is must.
