Legal Analyst II/Paralegal Duties: Assist with labor and employment matters, as well as to support significant litigation. Report to the General Counsel. Support and Coordinate Labor and Employment Law Matters. Log, track and manage EEOC cases, including drafting Position Statements. Schedule and conduct witness interviews and internal investigations. Create and manage investigation files. Track, summarize and ensure timely progress on employment matters. Perform legal research. Perform case assessments and work with attorneys on litigation/resolution strategy. Support and Coordinate Internal Response Efforts for Litigation and Administrative/Regulatory Inquiries. Receive and track service of process. Identify internal subject matter experts and key stakeholders. Build response plans in coordination with senior attorney colleagues. Manage litigation hold notices. Execute and oversee internal document productions and other discovery responses, to include email and other electronic document search efforts. Keep internal stakeholders informed on progress. Budgets and Payment Operations. Support development and implementation of Legal Department budget. Support development and implementation of individual case budgets. Oversee intake and proper coding of outside counsel invoices and prepare payment requests. Track and drive internal approval of outside counsel invoices. Monitor progress of commercial litigation handled by insurance counsel, coordinate discovery assistance, and help drive early settlement evaluation. Manage insurance coverage issues for all employment and litigation matters, including provision of timely notice to insurance carriers and follow-up regarding coverage issues. Support Knowledge Capture and Organization Efforts Related to Employment and Labor Matters. Create and manage employment guidance library. Support gathering and organization of lessons learned from individual matters, and client alerts from outside law firms, to build internal training and advisories. Drive internal training schedule for Legal and HR on key employment subjects.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. 8-10 years’ experience in a paralegal role. 5+ years’ experience in employment counseling and litigation. Experience with internal investigations. Experience in e-discovery work. Prior experience supporting multiple attorneys with moderate-to-large scale document organization and production. Polished oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational and project management skills. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. Ability to perform legal research and analysis of statutes, local codes, judicial decisions, and other authorities as directed by attorneys. Excellent reasoning and time management skills. Highly organized and superior attention to detail. Well-developed sense of collegiality, time-mindedness and sense of humor. Able to juggle and prioritize multiple projects, and reprioritize them, in a fast-paced environment. Generally conversant in litigation issues. Able to adapt quickly to new technologies and processes to drive efficiencies. Ability to work independently. Preferred: Experience practicing in a large law firm or in-house corporate legal department. Excellent skills at providing sharp, concise summaries from complex and detailed situations. Track record of applying available free training and knowledge of business and legal operations to drive process improvement and risk reduction. Experience leading e-discovery efforts. Demonstrated skills in coordinating initiatives with groups beyond the candidate’s immediate colleagues (ex. other legal practice groups in a firm, or non-legal groups within a company).Experience with establishing and tracking of litigation budgets. Experience with Serengeti or other electronic billing systems. Ability to develop and present complex ideas to senior management audiences. Demonstrated bent towards proactivity. Takes initiative to resolve issues independently or to seek guidance on how to resolve them. Proficiency with Westlaw research. Working knowledge of U.S. Government contracting a plus. Working knowledge of Service Contract Act issues a plus. Experience with alternative billing arrangements a plus.
