Patent Paralegal The candidate will work in the areas of invention harvesting, patent prosecution and clearance for utility patent matters; will include partnering with our patent agents to gather invention disclosures and materials for new applications, performing patent searches using international databases, maintaining patent data and dockets within a patent database, and preparing executive reports on patent activities; will gather and organize prototypes, products, catalogs, marketing materials and other original documents for our prosecution or infringement efforts-both offensive and defensive; will also be responsible to flag trademark and other legal issues as they may arise in the context of patent prosecution matters while collaborating with professionals managing company’s patent and trade secret portfolios, and supporting company’s IP patent litigation team as needed.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have 5+ years' law firm and/or in-house experience as a patent prosecution paralegal; solid understanding of domestic and international patent prosecution; mastery of internet-based patent databases for domestic and international searches; extensive experience with IP portfolio management databases (experience with Anaqua preferred); experience preparing and presenting training materials on patent-related topics; experience preparing tables, charts and graphs using Excel and Powerpoint; Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate; some experience with design patent and/or utility model helpful; ability to manage a complex and dynamic workload and multi-task; self-directed, persistent and comfortable working in ambiguous environments; highly organized and detail-oriented; strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated desire to contribute to team success and ability to work cross-functionally; and excellent written and oral communication skills.
