Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for providing Deputy County Attorneys with legal research and case law, organizing case files, and providing case management support. Assists attorneys with depositions, witness interviews, court proceedings, and pretrial/trial preparation, including preparation of witness summaries, depositions, organizing exhibits, and securing evidence and documentation such as subpoenas and witness notifications. Produces initial drafts of pleadings, motions, briefs, memos, discovery requests and responses, reports, and correspondence as assigned and in accordance with court rules. Assists attorneys in researching statutes, legal cases, and other sources for legal precedents and case applicability utilizing computerized research tools. Reviews, organizes, indexes, redacts, and Bates stamps pertinent documents for disclosure/discovery and for use in court. Analyzes, organizes, reviews and verifies records and other documents obtained through the discovery process. Utilizes software and case management systems for litigation support and trial use. Attends continuing legal education seminars and in-house training. Should have Bachelor's degree in any field and a certificate of completion from a Legal Assistant or Paralegal studies program; or a Juris Doctorate from an American Bar Association (ABA) approved program. Knowledge in researching statutes, court cases and legal references. Knowledge in organizing and documenting case materials. Knowledge of legal terminology, principles and procedures, and Victims' Rights. Knowledge of Arizona Statutes and Court Rules of Procedure (Arizona and Federal). Ability: Ability to coordinate case material and documents for court proceedings. Ability to accurately perform several functions simultaneously in a planned and organized manner while meeting critical deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a stressful environment. Ability to interact effectively with justice system participants, including to attorneys, clients, law enforcement, and legal professionals. Ability to apply legal knowledge to ensure compliance with court rules. Ability to prepare evidence and documents for court. Closing date: 05/26/17 11:59 PM
