Legal Assistant Duties: Providing legal support services to firm attorneys, successful execution of: Composing, preparing, revising and finalizing written documents and correspondence as directed by the attorney. Preparing client intake forms, retainer agreements and electronic filings. Maintaining attorney files in a consistent and logical manner. Taking and transcribing dictation - highly skilled. Answering phones in a courteous and professional manner. Scheduling meetings and conference calls. Opening and forwarding all forms of mail – paper, electronic and voice. Entering billable time and disbursements. Faxing and scanning documents. Managing calendars and contacts. Researching case histories and general documents/materials for attorneys via Westlaw and/or other requested platforms. Supporting one of the firm’s Law Partners in the Family practice area, with personal business matters and general law office duties.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Must have Legal Assistant experience: hands-on, schooling and/or internship. Must have experience in one or more of the following: Hands-on as a Legal Assistant supporting varied law practice areas; Formal education in legal studies, college or certification program with high honors; Legal Assistant graduate from a local community college with high honors; Legal Assistant graduate from a business school with high honors; Internships in legal work. Knowledge of NJ rules and civil procedures with federal court filings. Competency in legal support duties; i.e., creating blacklines, comparing documents, creating signature pages, inserting attorney comments to draft documents and accurately billing time. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Outlook; particularly Word and Excel. Superior written and verbal communication skills. Strong critical thinking skills. Ability to apply problem-solving techniques. Outstanding organizational skills. Meticulous file maintenance skills. Ability to multi-task. Very strong attention to detail. Self-motivation, yet be a team player when needed. Quality to respect matters of a confidential nature. A high level of enthusiasm for your work product. Professional courtesy with all contacts.
