Claim Litigation Management Auditor The candidate will be responsible for managing the external relationships and litigation management protocols with firms including onsite auditing of legal firms, management of the panel counsel, rate negotiations and overall management of external litigation processes. The auditor will apply company’s Billing Guidelines and/or generally accepted principles and guidelines along with compliance with legal and ethical standards that apply to attorneys billing legal services. Plays a key role in ensuring law firm compliance with company’s Litigation Management processes, billing guidelines and industry practices. Oversees company’s litigation management processes with external panel counsel, including the onsite auditing of law firms, rate negotiation, and overall management of the litigation strategies of company Insurance. Ensures adherence to company’s litigation management protocols with external stakeholders, vendors, and panel counsel. Reviews, analyzes, and adjusts complex legal bills using an e-billing platform that is consistent with the company Insurance Company’s billing guidelines. Utilizes, manages, and administers an e-billing platform to maintain an accurate review of invoices. Manages the appeals process of invoices through the company’s appeal standards and protocols. Collaborates with the claim staff, law firms, business partners, and legal vendors to ensure efficient and consistent auditing standards. Effectively communicates the rationale supporting audits; seeks additional information from counsel, claims professionals, managers and other stakeholders as necessary to ensure timely processing of invoices and appeals. Through the review process, identifies billing trends and proactively elevates issues. Assists in creating and maintaining internal training materials and guidelines. Manages counsel information including rates, location, and staffing changes. Performs additional duties as requested or assigned.

Qualification and Experience

A Juris Doctorate required. Must have 5+ years of litigation management experience, legal spend analysis, onsite firm auditing, bill review auditing experience, or business analyst, finance experience required. Prior experience as an attorney, paralegal, legal spend analyst, legal bill auditor, legal bill reviewer, or billing coordinator for law firms preferred. Knowledge: Knowledge of industry standard litigation management protocols, with experience handling external litigation management programs for insurance companies. Knowledge of claims adjudication, and invoicing practices in the legal industry required. Knowledge of law firm practices, litigation processes, and familiarity with work product, including to, local rules of civil procedure and professional rules of ethical conduct, and knowledge of time and billing practices and software required. Strong understanding of claims legal issues, multijurisdictional exposure preferred. Strong analytical abilities to review and evaluate claims and legal bills in order to make sound decisions. Must have excellent computer skills are needed due to the claim systems and the use of the legal bill software. Should effective communication skills; ability to obtain information from others and deliver information to others orally and in written form.
