Pre-Law School Training/Legal Assistant Trainee Duties: Legal research including finding and analyzing cases, statutes and other relevant authorities using online databases. Fact research and development, including participation in client interviews, depositions, understanding critical technologies and writing factual summaries. Case management, such as tracking critical deadlines, ensuring project completion, maintaining case files, interacting with clients and preparing trials, arbitrations and meditations. Advanced writing assignments including preparation of briefs, motions, and other pleadings following weekly and monthly seminars on those topics. Work with attorneys and other more senior legal assistants in the continuing education of the firm on the latest developments in the legal field.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: A four-year degree from a top-tier college or university A strong work ethic and the drive to meet or beat deadlines. A genuine interest in the law and/or a career in the legal world. A strong desire to learn, especially about IP law, litigation and technology. Strong organizational and time-management skills with excellent written and other communication skills. The ability to work as part of a team as well as remain motivated when working on own.
