Profile

Paralegal The candidate will perform assigned Legal Department functions and coordinate the defense and administration of assigned litigation filed against the company. Will involve supporting the labor, employment and litigation functions of the Legal Department. Provide general paralegal and administrative support for department operations and throughout all phases of litigation. Prepare information and gather necessary documents to respond to subpoenas and discovery requests in a timely manner. Conduct telephone and personal interviews. Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treatises, constitutions and legal codes. Investigate facts relevant to matters in which the Legal Department is involved. Create detailed legal and management reports, analyses and presentations by using computer programs (g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio) to create charts, graphs and slides as needed. Assist in the implementation of programs and projects designed to ensure the organization’s continued compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Manage, track and report on the status of legal and commercial issues from other departments to ensure these issues and projects are resolved in timely fashion. Create and maintain records in matter management systems such as eCounsel or Serengeti. Participate in and facilitate the preparation, execution and administration of agreements, contracts and other legal documents. Prepare routine and confidential letters, legal and commercial research briefs, reports and memoranda from rough drafts or written notes, ensuring accurate grammar, spelling and business formats. Monitor state and federal regulatory trends, activities, and requirements, including, without limitation, DOT, DOL and EEOC.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have Associate’s degree in paralegal studies or a four-year college degree with commensurate experience. Should have 3+ years of paralegal experience in various areas of law such as corporate governance, litigation, labor and employment, contracts and transactional matters. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required. Experience using MS Office applications (Word, Outlook, and Excel) is needed. Significant experience in labor, litigation and employment matters is preferred. Experience drafting and/or modifying various types of legal documents, under attorney supervision is desired. Experience working with government offices in connection with maintaining regulatory compliance is a plus. Proficiency in developing concise, creative and effective PowerPoint presentations is helpful.
