Paralegal (Foreclosure) The candidate will primarily supports a team of attorneys in the uncontested service and judgment department with foreclosure cases on behalf of lenders. This is a hands-on position that involves working collaborative with clients and employees of the firm. Review files to ensure service complete. Reviews returns of service to ensure service complete, under attorney direction prepares correspondence and other written documents as required including Notices of filings, Motions to Appoint Process Server, Notice of Action, Motion to Appoint GAL, Notices of Dropping Parties, Motions for Default and Non Military Affidavits, Notices of Voluntary Dismissal, etc. Judgment Department Duties – Reviews files to prepare for Summary Final Judgment. Under attorney direction prepares correspondence and other written documents as required including Notices of filings, draft Motions for Summary Final Judgment and Supporting Affidavits and Final Judgments, preparation of chronologies and summaries as requested. Requests fee approval, prepares hearing binders, requests all necessary documents from client, preparing for trials and meeting billing goals. Maintains calendar for deadlines and assists in preparing attorneys for hearings. Experience with Judicial and Non Judicial Foreclosures in Texas, Michigan, Illinois, Georgia, Kentucky and USVI a plus. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: High School Diploma or its equivalent. 2 years of prior paralegal experience in a default services law firm or within a mortgage loan servicing company working as a paralegal. Experience with Judicial and Non Judicial Foreclosures in Texas, Michigan, Illinois, Georgia, Kentucky and USVI a plus. Ability to manage a case load of approximately 300 uncontested files. Familiarity with client interface systems such as Blacknight (LPS), Vendorscape, Lenstar etc. in order to upload documents and track contested files. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook and knowledge and application of legal research tools (Westlaw). Requires critical thinking skills, superior communication and organizational skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
