Legal Assistant Responsibilities : The candidate will consult with and provide information to attorneys on immigration and procedural options on assigned matters. Confer with clients and guide them through requirements for various immigration filings. Coordinate and prepare immigration filings for attorney review and once approved file with the appropriate agencies. Prepare and coordinate submission of foreign visa applications to various consulates. Organize, index and maintain files and dockets. Prepare and compile submission packages as per agency requirements. Create charts, graphs, tables, etc. for analysis of data. Process invoices related to vendor services contracted on behalf of a client or an attorney. Utilize and continually augment a substantive understanding of the specific areas of immigration. Will guide clients on fulfillment of evidentiary and procedural requirements on the following: Business nonimmigrant categories; Business immigrant categories;Permanent Labor Certification applications; Family based categories in addition to knowledge of diversity visa lottery applications.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements : The candidate should have a Strong academic background. Ability to acquire understanding, based on familiarity with governing law and research tools, of other employment based statuses. Such as I (media representative) and M (vocational students). Working knowledge of Department of Labor (DOL) requirements for the Labor Condition Application (LCA). Clear and concise writing skills and good verbal communications skills. Related work experience in a corporate or law firm environment. Good organizational skills. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computer, including knowledge of word processing software, photocopiers, fax machines, and typewriter. Ability to follow through on projects. Work occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position; may require irregular hours. Excellent professional references. Good judgment. High ethical standards. Ability to travel to private and public buildings, locally and statewide, via private or public conveyance to assist attorney in attending to client needs on legal matters. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate in person, by e-mail and telephone and follow the instruction effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact. Work occasionally requires a high level of mental effort and strain while organizing and maintaining multiple cases.
