Nurse Paralegal – RN/LNC/MPH The candidate will identify, organize and analyze pertinent medical records to support two Partner’s and team of Associates handling a broad range of injury and wrongful death cases involving defective devices and dangerous drugs and consumer products. Review and analyze medical records, pre-existing or co-existing medical conditions, billings, notes of physicians and nurses, charts, pleadings, discovery, deposition transcripts, accident reports and insurance documents. Conduct medical research to translate and interpret medical/nursing terms, diagnoses, and treatment plans; outline relevant deviations and adherences to Standards of Care. Evaluate strengths and weaknesses of medical evidence and identify exclusions, oversights and discrepancies. Organize and prepare outlines and narrative summaries of digested medical records for presentation to clients and for use during depositions/trial. Evaluate causation and damages issues. Educate attorneys and clients regarding relevant medical issues. Identify plaintiff's future medical needs and associated costs. Perform cost of care estimates for long term care treatment and catastrophic case management scenarios. Locate or prepare demonstrative evidence for trial. Assist with preparation for and support during deposition, trial or ADR. Process authorizations requesting medical/collateral source records. Appear as an expert witness, testifying at trials, depositions, hearings, and arbitrations as required. Conduct non-party witness interviews and prepare memorandum to keep attorneys apprised of obtained information. 2-6 years of combined RN/Litigation Paralegal work experience required. 2-3 years of nursing/medical experience with strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomical drawings, laboratory tests, medical conditions and medications required. Bachelor's degree in medical related field preferred; MPH a plus, Registered Nurse License and Paralegal Certification preferred. Demonstrated experience reviewing medical evidence involved in litigation cases, i.e. HIPPA compliance, medical records and billings from case inception through trial/settlement required. Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Adobe; TrialWorks; Westlaw, LexisNexis and PACER required.
