Principal Paralegal – Patents Responsibilities: Provide support to the Patent Team, including the Senior Director and 2-3 attorneys. Act as liaison between inventors and in-house attorneys. Act as liaison between inventors and outside attorneys/firms. Manage Patent Incentive Program. Manage Patent Budget . Oversee invention disclosure tracking, patent review committee meetings (assigning and scheduling). Manage invention disclosure/patent management system, which includes annuities/maintenance. Be responsible for providing detailed patent analytics about the program, preparing reports, metrics and presentations. Assist the patent litigation team as needed. Potentially provide supervision and training to department admin.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: College degree and/or Paralegal Certificate. 5+ years of experience in patent prosecution and docketing (combination of in-house and law firm preferred). Expertise in patent law, including portfolio development and management. Familiarity with at least one commercial IP docket management system, preferably Anaqua. Experience with managing invention disclosures, patent committee meetings, and incentive programs. Self-directed with strong bias for action, detail orientation and delivering results. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines working independently. Ability to prioritize work load to complete assigned deliverables within the allocated timeline. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, engaging environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong client service skills required. Must have strong Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook skills.
