Trial Paralegal The candidate will develop and maintain systems to collect, store, and retrieve data. Will locate and expedite requested documentation. Draft original correspondence and materials for communication under attorney's signature. On a limited basis, draft original correspondence, within the ethical boundaries of a paralegal position, to various parties and clients for own signature. Conduct some factual research and legal research, if applicable within department, and assemble for attorney use. Communicate with clients, government agencies/officials, consultants, and various other parties on a regular basis to collect and assemble information. Communicate findings to attorney and communicate as agent of attorney. Apply in-depth knowledge of legal procedures, electronic discovery and document management, terminology, and activities to paralegal tasks. On a limited basis, represent attorney in selected proceedings that do not require the exercise of legal judgment. Perform other tasks as necessary or as directed.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate or equivalent experience within Trial practice area. Must have 3-5 years of litigation experience, including trial preparation. Understanding and knowledge of litigation processes from pre-trial through post-trial, including, but not limited to, document analysis, legal theories and strategies, factual and legal research, trial preparation and post-trial tasks is preferred. Practical knowledge of litigation related software and databases, especially Ringtail, is desired. Over-time may be required.
