Personal Injury Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for assisting lawyers by investigating facts, preparing legal documents, or researching legal precedent. Conduct research to support a legal proceeding, to formulate a defense, or to initiate legal action. Advance the legal cause of firm clientele by preparing legal documents, organizing file materials, sending correspondence, assisting in the preparation and service of settlement proposal documents, verifying medical bills, liens and other collateral source information. Meet with clients and other professionals to discuss details of case. Engage in internal meetings with firm attorneys in accord with firm protocol. Follow firm protocols and procedures in the management of assigned case loads. Prepare affidavits or other documents, such as legal correspondence, and organize and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing system. Prepare for trial by performing tasks such as organizing exhibits. Prepare legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, appeals, wills, contracts, and real estate closing statements. File pleadings electronically. Summarize cases. Assist in deposition preparation, pre-trial investigations, trial preparation, including assistance with preparation of witnesses for deposition and/or trial. Prepare exhibits and other demonstrative evidence for use at trial. Paralegal Certification a plus. Associate s or Bachelor's Degree in a related field a plus. Should have 2-5 years relevant work experience. Experience in managing a caseload of motor vehicle, workers compensation, social security, premises liability and medical malpractice cases is required. Experience in the preparation of settlement proposals and statute responsibility would be ideal. Experience as a litigation paralegal and at least 2+ years significant experience in Personal Injury / Catastrophic Injury law a plus. Should have proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
