Patent Paralegal The candidate will assist in-house attorneys, patent agents and IP paralegals in all aspects of patent prosecution, patent docketing, contract docketing, and related department functions. Responsibilities: Patent docketing and related data / database management; Monitoring, updating, report creation and reporting; Reminding/follow-up with internal and external clients as needed; Preparing and filing forms and submission documents for domestic and PCT patent applications with USPTO and WIPO receiving offices; Review, Preparation and submission of various items, including declarations, certificates of correction, corrected filing receipts, assignment recordation papers, etc.; Conduct due diligence and data vetting of incoming portfolios, including assignment, priority claim and declaration reviews; Preparing office action "shells" and gathering references as needed; Tracking of inventor awards; Managing invention disclosure docket; Annuity management and support through payment portals; Patent Review Board management, including: (i) meeting preparation, (ii) meeting setup and coordination, (iii) sending out reporting emails to inventors and participants, and (iv) follow-up on action items as identified; IDS preparation/management/filing including related reference tracking; Coordinate, correspond, docket and file all matters pertaining to foreign counsel; Assist in ensuring agreement requests from internal stakeholders are timely addressed; Identifying appropriate agreement type needed for common situations, and prepare first drafts for internal review prior to stakeholder review; Editing agreement drafts in alignment with internal stakeholder instructions; Track, docket and archive agreements created for a variety of the company's various divisions; Communicate consistently and accurately with internal and external stakeholders; Administrative duties include but are not limited to scanning and uploading of PDFs, as needed; Assisting with "matter management" for in-house legal department; Continuously appreciates and improves department operations and related tools to achieve efficiencies; Tracking legal expenses for overall department management. Paralegal Certification from an ABA approved school or Bachelor's Degree in a field related to law, administration or liberal arts highly preferred. Must have Proficiency in at least one commercial docketing software (e.g., CPI), with a willingness to learn Thomson IP Manager. Must have 5 years of paralegal experience in an in-house or law firm environment. Should have knowledge of: Electronic and physical patent filing procedures.; USPTO administrative practices, including private PAIR as well as finance portals; US, PCT and general foreign filing processes, rules and regulations; Private PAIR, PCT-SAFE.
