ProfileParalegal The candidate will negotiate and finalize standardized sets of Terms and Conditions with Buyers under supervision of Music Department Business Affairs attorneys. Will work closely with agents to draft breach/demand letters on behalf of clients; track communication/payment deadlines; engage in follow-up correspondence as necessary, etc. Initial responder to agents’ offices and Contracts Department regarding contract language, acceptable revisions, etc. for firm-issued performance agreements. Draft and send cease and desist letters to third parties engaging in unauthorized representation of clients and follow-up to ensure the unauthorized activity has ceased after correspondence is sent. Maintain and update database of promoters/buyers and business issues that have harmed clients; update ATS with same information; inform Music Dept. regularly of new activity. Other legal work as needed subject to guidance and direction of Music Department Business Affairs attorneys.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have certificate of completion of an ABA approved paralegal program. Should have certificate of completion of a paralegal program at, or a degree from, a postsecondary institution that requires the successful completion of a minimum of 24 semester, or equivalent, units in law-related courses and that has been accredited by a national or regional accrediting organization or approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education. A baccalaureate degree or an advanced degree in any subject, and 1+ year of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney is essential. A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma with a 3+ years of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney prior to 2003 is essential.Should have Transactional experience. Comfort with contract language is essential. Excellent communication skills is essential. Should have strong writing skills. Excellent judgment with respect to representing firm to buyers, business world, etc is essential. Previous work in entertainment or music industry a is plus.
