Profile

Claims and Litigation Paralegal The candidate will do general claims and litigation management and support, including initial evaluation, assignment of counsel, setting reserves, assisting with discovery responses, coordinating with business teams and internal and outside counsel, tracking status and reporting. Will provide support to the BBG customer service teams regarding questions related to claims and litigation matters, including preparing releases/settlement agreements, assisting with responses to demand letters, coordinating inspections as needed, and researching applicable laws. Will review and process invoices for fees and expenses and prepare related reports. Will coordinate with the Brunswick Corporate Law Department regarding significant litigation matters, budgeting, and reserve setting. Will assist the Division Counsel and Director of Product Integrity/Government Affairs with various projects and assignments. Will draft correspondence to business clients and other organizations. Will assist with the organization and maintenance of databases and other document management systems. Will actively participate in meetings or projects relating to your function. Must utilize good written and verbal communication skills and exercise sound judgment and independent decision-making.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have 5 years of work experience with claims and litigation and related matters in a law firm or in-house legal department, or other similar experience. Must have high School Diploma required, Paralegal degree or certification preferred. Must have careful attention to detail, resourcefulness, consistent follow through, and good judgment. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and solid analytical and organizational skills. Must cooperativeness, flexibility, and ability to collaborate and work across functions with a team spirit and attitude. Should have ability to work independently, use time efficiently to meet multiple deadlines and to take responsibility for completing assignments with minimal supervision. Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, matter management and billing systems and related computer skills. Must have experience in the marine industry a plus.
