Paralegal The candidate will perform paralegal work and provide related administrative support to the Board Office staff, and will work under the general direction of the Board Counsel and the Associate Counsel/Director of Human Resources. Duties include legal research, preparation of memoranda and legal documents, and administrative and general office support. Will be required to coordinate and balance overload work with other administrative staff. Performs paralegal work of varying scope and complexity; performs related administrative support work as required. Prepares tentative drafts, letters, memoranda and legal documents for use in the preparation of opinions, reports, briefs, contracts, and other papers or legal documents. Prepares drafts of pleadings, motions and discovery documents in connection with cases; attends hearings as requested. Assists in the preparation of drafts of findings of fact, conclusions of law and orders based on the evidentiary record. Conducts investigations of limited scope to obtain facts; studies legal precedents and prepares recommendations. Conducts legal research in various areas as assigned. Obtains legal reference materials and files legal documents. Other duties as assigned. Assists in balancing overload work and coordinating work schedules of other staff and may supervise work of other staff when serving as leader of project team. Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited paralegal program or experience equal to 2 years of full-time work as a paralegal or similar legal support capacity under the supervision of a practicing attorney. Must demonstrate the ability to handle multiple projects, utilize legal research resources at a high level, have excellent oral and written communication skills, and be familiar with computerized office applications.
