ProfileCompliance Analyst Duties: Ensure exemplary client service to all internal and external clients; proactively promote client service throughout department and among teams; respond to peer requests with recognition that request serves a client or firm need. Respond to lawyer and staff requests to perform conflicts of interest searches. Assist in the identification of potential conflicts of interest through corporate and conflicts database research of client and matter information provided by potential new hire lawyers and support staff. Research corporate history of clients and parties related to former and new client work. Review conflict reports and identify potential conflicts issues. Maintain and update conflicts and client matters databases, summarize the basis for potential conflicts and communicate any potential conflicts to attorneys. Independently analyze the report with limited guidance. Summarize the conflicts analysis results in writing and communicate the search results. Search various databases for existing client relationships that may be in conflict with a new proposal. Search websites for information about corporate affiliations (such as parent/subsidiary). Apply judgment to design effective database searches and to distinguish relevant search results from those that are irrelevant. Develop familiarity with Global Practice Standards program and policies and answer inquiries regarding share dealings and related issues. Create ethical walls upon request and as appropriate. Assist with the maintenance of the firm’s standard forms for engagements and waivers and file as appropriate. Retrieve and send waiver letters to attorneys upon request. Review new matter requests. Safeguard and keep confidential any information, observations or viewpoints regarding firm business matters.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. 1 year of conflicts or legal assistant experience (or similar law firm experience in a decision-making capacity) required. Excellent oral and written business communication skills; prior exposure to international business correspondence is a plus. Strong interpersonal skills required. Strong analytical skills required. Willingness to learn law and fundamental principles regarding conflict of interest issues and strong issue-spotting skills are essential. Ability to keep confidential any information, observations or viewpoints regarding firm business matters. Proven stability and calm demeanor with the ability to handle stressful situations with confidence and composure. Solid knowledge of world's geography. Strong sense of urgency/prioritization and ability to recognize when to seek guidance. Proficient Microsoft Office Suite user.
