Privacy Specialist (HIPAA) - Inhouse Legal/Risk Management The candidate will be responsible for assisting the Director of Privacy in managing, monitoring, investigating, and educating Memorial Healthcare System (MHS) and to ensure compliance with HIPAA Privacy Rule. Assist the Privacy Director in identifying Privacy issues as well as implementing and maintaining the Privacy Program. Administers current process for receiving, documenting, tracking, investigating and taking action on all complaints concerning the organizations privacy policies and procedures in coordination with the Privacy Director. Ensures that all Request for Amendments, Privacy Incidents investigations, Records Restrictions and Accounting for Disclosures are processed within the time required by Federal and State laws. Assists Privacy Director in activities to foster privacy awareness within the organization and related entities. Maintains current knowledge of applicable federal and state privacy laws and accreditation standards and monitors advancements in information privacy technologies to ensure organizational adaptation and compliance. Respond to complaints and grievances related to Privacy issues. Assists with running electronic audits and any ongoing department projects. Compile, prepare, review and submit reports of privacy trends. Assists attorneys with all phases of performing legal services in supporting Memorial Healthcare System. Assists attorneys with claims, contracting, physician relationships, governance and other healthcare matters. Responsible for and oversees implementation and management of departmental systems and software, including date analytics/reporting and training. Prepare and present reports/analysis as appropriate. Must have Bachelors Degree in Health Information Management or related health field with 1 year of HIPAA/HITECH experience or Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or related health field with at least 4 years of HIPAA/HITECH experience or Paralegal Certificate with 4 years of HIPAA/HITECH experience required. Must have knowledge and understanding of the HIPAA policy and procedures pertaining to HIPAA privacy rules, and Florida State rules. Should have analytical skills with acute attention to detail. Ability to manage large volume of documents and correspondence.
