Litigation - Foreclosure (Lender-side)
This large full service firm is very women-oriented, and it has created many benefits to appeal particularly to women, including flexible work arrangements and 12-week paid maternity leave. Many of the firm’s attorneys are active in many community, professional and civic matters. Associates receive in-house training in a variety of areas and early client contact and hands-on experience. There is a “business casual†dress code, but associates are expected to keep professional clothing at the office in case of short notice meetings. All associates are expected to spend at least 50 hours annually on pro bono, and this is part of their billable hour expectation of 1800. Residential Real Estate Paralegal Responsibilities: Will work as part of attorney/paralegal/administrative team in the residential real estate group of the trusts and estates department. Participate in closings to assist attorneys and other paralegals. Preparation of documents for closings (including preparation of closing checklist, Excel closing statement, organization of closing folders, draft closing documents as appropriate, order of UCC searches (including judgments, liens, suits), obtain corporate organizational documents, certified copies and good standing certificates, attend closing and assist in execution of closing documents, draft UCC financing statements, amendments, etc., coordination of recording of real estate documents and UCC financing statements. Attend to post-closing matters (including, but not limited to, coordination of post-closing questions and provide necessary documents, follow-up on recorded/filed documents, preparation of closing binders). Review title search work. Conducts research and analyses as assigned. Open new client matters (prepare disclosure letter). Prepare contracts and update client contacts. Provide information to clients, primarily by telephone and email. Prepare title policies, closing disclosure, closing protection letter, and telephone backup. Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree and ABA approved paralegal certificate preferred; Associate's degree and ABA paralegal certificate. 3-5 years of residential real estate experience (preferred) or commercial real estate experience. Virtual filing experience. Excellent research and analytical skills. Proven ability to work with attorneys, paralegals, secretaries and support staff to provide exceptional service to clients. Exceptional organizational skills to complete multiple projects on time with full accuracy and quality. Ability to work outside the normal 9 to 5 workday to staff closings and complete urgent work to meet deadlines. Excellent Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
