Government Investigations Paralegal Responsibilities: Will assist attorneys in all stages of government investigations and litigation while handling a variety of substantive and administrative responsibilities under the supervision of an attorney. Also, will coordinate and oversee all aspects of matter management, trial preparation and case-related eDiscovery, including database setup and implementation, online document review and production, preparation of witness files, data preparation for trial and post litigation eDiscovery processes. Manage electronic document review and production; serve as liaison with eDiscovery team on database development and implementation; assist with the review of ESI and the production of responsive documents; coordinate with client on the transfer of ESI for processing and review; use Relativity to prepare production indices, deposition exhibit and witness folders. Participate in initial client and witness interviews, investigations, fact analysis. Analyze documentary evidence, including preparation of chronologies, cast of characters, etc. Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions to compel discovery, etc. articipate in formulation of discovery plans with attorneys. Assist/manage document reviews for responsiveness and/or privilege, including off-site or client/opposing party reviews. Run, manage and maintain document searches and categorization in Relativity and Case Notebook. Prepare privilege document logs. Prepare deposition and hearing abstracts. Prepare deposition testimony categorization using West Case Notebook or other deposition review tools. Coordinate with court reporters. Assist with preparation of summary judgment filing, including preparation of appendix, citation review, contextual revisions, etc. Assist with preparation for hearings. Delegate and coordinate project assistant assignments/training. Supply factual support for statement of facts (reviewing declarations, depositions and documents); draft initial statements. Shepardize and cite-check briefs. Assemble appendices for dispositive motions. Work with outside eDiscovery vendors or copy services. Serve as case team liaison with eDiscovery Support team. Online research including fact checking. Knowledge of e-filing applications and procedures. Prepare witness files for deposition and trial using electronic tools. Understanding of and proficiency using eDiscovery tools and processes. Hearing and trial preparation experience, including attendance and support at hearings and trial. Supervise non-attorney resources in preparation for hearings and trial; assist with pre-trial filings and related projects. Annually log at least 1,500 billable hours.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications : A Bachelor’s degree. ABA-approved paralegal certificate is also preferred. 5+ years’ law firm experience; eDiscovery experience a plus. Case management experience strongly desired; trial experience a plus. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Outlook and Excel; knowledge of Relativity and Case Notebook a plus.
