Conflicts Analyst Duties: Under supervision, will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing new client and matter intake forms submitted via the New Business Intake (NBI) application to verify that entity and party information submitted for client intake and conflicts checking purposes is complete. Apply business rules to the search criteria necessary to run conflicts checks in the LegalKEY database and understand database management, conflicts applications, and research methods. Review new intake forms to ensure party information submitted for conflicts checking is correct. Have an understanding of commercial and litigious matters and able to identify instances where party information provided is incomplete. Responsible for clearing matters for particular practice groups. Should conflicts issues require resolution, communicating in a confident and professional manner with partners and conflicts attorneys. Use internal and external databases to conduct factual research, for example, on prospective clients, adverse or involved parties and determining the status of relevant matters. This includes verifying open and closed dates, ascertaining the nature of an entity’s role in a particular matter, and producing and searching a corporate tree for new clients that shows affiliated companies. Review reports with fellow team members and the Conflicts & Intake Supervisor to ensure search criteria applied would produce the appropriate hits in order to generate the conflict report. Process client and matter revisions to ensure Elite data is up-to-date and valid. Assist lawyers, secretaries and paralegals on how to utilize the NBI application. Other department projects as assigned by Firm Wide Intake & Records Manager and the Conflicts & Intake Supervisor. Work closely with other staff members in the department, lawyers, paralegals, secretaries and other levels of management. Other duties may be assigned to fully meet the requirements of the position.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree is required. Paralegal certificate a plus. 1 year of law firm experience. Previous experience in conflicts and intake advantageous. Knowledge of ethical rules and risk management requirements governing conflicts of interest and conflicts resolution processes. Understanding of the type of work undertaken by a large global law firm along with an appreciation of commercial and legal terms. Keeping up-to-date with changes in the corporate landscape would be advantageous. Experience with conflicts and new business intake applications required. Intapp Open a plus. Proficiency in technical applications. Knowledge of LegalKEY and Elite a plus. Utilize research applications such as Dun & Bradstreet, Capital IQ, and Hoover’s. Excellent organizational skills and a high attention to detail. Ability to manage complex projects and assignments while maintaining tight deadlines. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel in a global market with tact and diplomacy. Flexibility to work additional hours, different shifts (such as night shift), or weekends as needed.
