Legal Assistant - Litigation Team The candidate prepares attorneys for hearings, trial mediations and depositions. Monitors and tracks attorney’s caseload and stage of each file. Supports the litigation team as requested. Ensures proper calendaring of appearances, hearings, mediations, and other important events. Ensures deadlines are met by establishing a strong follow-up system. Prepares attorney document reviews. Coordinates hearings, mediations, depositions, etc. Follows up on unfulfilled requests. Ensures timely follow up with clients, opposing counsel and third parties. Takes initiative to resolve any unanticipated issues which may arise. Requests original documents, financial figures, etc., from clients and other third parties. Completes file opening procedures, including electronic filing of pleadings. Prepares litigation / mediation / contested motions, letters and affidavits. May prepare initial draft of notices, pleadings, responses, motions, letters, affidavits, defenses, etc. Communicates all events and developments to clients using multiple client systems and email (as well as fax and mail as appropriate). When necessary, serves as liaison between clients, opposing counsel, courts and other third parties. Elevates issues to supervisor in a timely manner. Send fee requests, hourly billings; prepare checks etc. and maintains all related records. Maintains client and attorney files. High School Diploma or equivalent; some college or certification is preferred. Should have 1+ year of Legal Assistant / default servicing experience. Should have outstanding written and oral communication skills to communicate with attorneys, staff and clients. Must have strong computer skills; Word, Excel and Outlook as well as general understanding of software systems to access and utilize client systems.
