Senior Staff Accountant Finance & Accounting The candidate will assist the Accounting Manager in reconciling general ledger accounts, preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements and preparing financial schedules as required and will assist the Director of Tax and Payroll, Director of Accounting, and Treasury Controller as needed. Reconciling the Firm’s operating bank account on a monthly basis; preparing monthly journal entries as required; assisting with the review of the Income Statement line items for large actual to budget variances; researching variances before month-end close-out; reviewing the Balance Sheet for accuracy; reviewing and preparing reconciliations on a monthly basis for assigned balance sheet accounts, including deposits and flexible spending; assisting in the interim and year-end audit; preparing schedules as required; tracking submission of requested information from Firm employees; providing information to auditors; reviewing and verifying the financial reports provided by the outside auditors; and responding to general ledger expense queries, providing information and preparing journal entry transfers as needed.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. Master’s degree in accounting preferred. CPA or CPA candidate preferred. 4+ years of experience in general ledger/fixes asset/financial reporting. Experience at a law firm or other professional services organization preferred. Public accounting or audit experience preferred. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (data manipulation, advanced formulas, pivot tables, vlookups, etc.). A strong general knowledge of accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, expense variations, etc. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks, with a sense of urgency, while maintaining high attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organization skills in a fast-paced environment. Effective oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of trustworthiness in handling confidential and sensitive information. Strong client service skills. Self-motivated and able to work independently.
