Docketing Specialist Duties: Responsible for providing comprehensive litigation calendaring services to the firm, including calendaring for all assigned matters, adhering to firm calendaring procedures and processes for these matters, and facilitating compliance with firm calendaring policies and protocols to minimize risk of missed deadlines. Responsible for quality checking calendar reports. Create, review and distribute calendar and docket reports. Independently calendar deadlines. Maintain policies and protocols to ensure accurate entry of calendar/docket entries. Assist fellow Docketing Clerks and Specialists as needed as back up and support. Communicates heavily with attorneys, paralegals and secretaries – thus, an emphasis on “customer-service†approach. Involves comprehension of various jurisdictions, their rules and litigation in general. Research filing deadlines, i.e.: discovery responses, responses to motions, pre-trial deadlines, court appearances, depositions, etc., as needed. Ensures all reports are stored in proper DMS workspace. Ensures all information provided is accurate and copies of Complaints and Charges, Scheduling Orders, etc. are attached. Keep current with the latest docketing technology, processes, and procedures. Provide recommendations to the Senior Manager, Firm Docketing Services to continually improve the firm’s docketing best practices. Attend Docketing Department meetings. May be asked to perform additional duties, as needed.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certification preferred. 3-5 years of law firm experience required. Substantial experience computing calendar deadlines for state, federal and appellate courts. Strong knowledge of litigation processes, court rules, and procedures. Ability to work independently and to sort priorities with minimum level of direct supervision. Desire and willingness to be proactive. Analytical and Problem Solving skills. Communication skills: listens well and gets clarification when needed, responds to inquiries and provides feedback in a timely manner. Organizational skills, ability to juggle several projects at the same time. Ability to navigate through databases. Professional demeanor and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. CompuLaw or other docketing software experience preferred. Proficient in all Microsoft applications, including Outlook Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Document Management System. Ability to work additional hours when needed.
