Profile

Senior Voice Engineer Duties: Provide technical support for all VoIP and IP voice related systems including call control, voice mail, IM, call accounting, E911, contact center, audio conferencing, and other related telecommunications equipment. Provide product expertise with tactical and strategic planning. Perform system installation and system upgrades; critical system programming; and Moves, Adds, Changes of enterprise systems, customer equipment, system monitoring, reporting, documentation and system design. Communicate status of maintenance activities through the standard Change Control process. Support regional office voice operations by remote system administration, coordinating vendor activities or traveling as necessary. Responsible for making accommodations for office moves, adding new users, modifying existing users, making necessary repairs and overseeing system upgrades. Perform after-hours support as required. Ensure that all voice requests for new individuals or changes are handled efficiently and accurately. Oversee and implement procedures for programming and customizing requirements for each user. Create documentation on all IP telephony designs. Submit recommendations on capacity, size, and design of new systems to be installed. Assist in disaster recovery planning and procedures for the IP telephony platforms. Identify possible points of failure and develop plans for responding to disasters or other significant outages to assure business continuity. Continually update procedures to reflect current environment. Responsible for oversight of work quality of contracted or vendor personnel for the various telephony systems. Assist the Manager of Voice and Data Communications in vendor negotiations and agreements to ensure quality services for selected vendors. Keep current on telephony industry developments and innovations. Maintain current technical certifications on selected installed systems. Participate in rotating on-call after hours support responsibilities. Make recommendations for operational and procedural improvements.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience in IP telephony and data networks. 2+ years of experience on the following platforms including installation, maintenance, and upgrades: Cisco Unified Communications Manager. Cisco Unity Connection. Cisco IM & Presence including Jabber. Cisco Emergency Responder. Cisco Prime Collaboration. Cisco Unified Contact Center Express. Cisco IOS gateways using H.323, MGCP, and SIP integration. Survivable Remote Site Telephony. Cisco IOS switching platforms. Cisco UCS B/C series server. VMware virtualization. 2 years of experience with large voice projects, project management involving multiple vendors, VoIP, IP phone systems, and data networking. Willingness to travel and ability to provide after-hours support from remote locations as required. Ability to troubleshoot QoS and voice quality issues on a converged network. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proven ability to resolve problems independently and take appropriate action in a timely and professional manner. Attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills. Desired: Previous legal firm or other professional service organization experience. CCNA or CCNP certification.
