Client Development Resource Manager Duties: Review and Approval of Budget Requests – Review annual budget requests and intra-year budget requests for all expenses related to marketing, business development, charitable, diversity and pro bono-related sponsorship and board expenses. Communicate decisions regarding approval to the appropriate stakeholder. Budget Development – Work with Team Leaders, Office Managing Partners, Department Operating Officers and appropriate administrative directors and managers to develop annual budgets. Work with budget owners to develop and update spending guidelines and criteria based on evolving needs and market conditions. Budget Spend Analysis – Monitor spending on a monthly basis and develop reports for firm management analyzing spend according to established guidelines. Conduct ‘after-action’ or post-event reviews to determine return on investment and incorporate reviews into budget processes for the following year. Outside Vendor Relationships – Monitor relationships with outside vendors and evaluate competing proposals for requested services. Participate in the negotiation and implementation of contracts for goods and services; ensure compliance with contract provisions and evaluate vendors based on client service, value and adherence to firm values. Stay informed as to the competitive market for goods and services to help the firm make informed buying decisions. Market Intelligence – Stay informed and update firm leadership on industry trends related to client development spending.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Undergraduate degree required in Business, Marketing, Accounting, Finance or related field. Advanced degree preferred. 10+ years of experience in business, marketing, accounting, finance or related functions. Additional experience in compliance-related functions preferred. Strong analytical skills and general understanding of budget management. Law firm experience preferred. Firm understanding of general business principles related to profitability models for professional services firms. Strong organizational skills and project management expertise. Strong analytical skills. Ability to manage and analyze large amounts of data. Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. Ability to be flexible and to multi-task, prioritize and continuously reprioritize activities, and meet deadlines. Strong follow-up skills required. Strong communication skills required including ability to communicate with others in a leadership role; deliver concise and relevant messages; adapt to various personalities; influence and persuade others; and demonstrate resilience after debate. Must have an enthusiastic, motivating personality, attention to organization and detail. A wide degree of creativity, initiative and critical analysis is expected.
