Case Worker I Duties: Responsible for start-up, intake, management, and settlement of casualty/estate cases involving Medicaid recipients or deceased Medicaid recipients/clients. Confirm Medicaid eligibility for casualty cases. Obtain additional information required for case start-up from beneficiaries and/or attorneys. Intake referral leads from attorneys, insurance adjusters, and medical providers. Review and research leads regarding potential accident or trauma situations – perform the initial determination through on-going case management. Investigate, research, review, and compile information from multiple sources. Interface with attorneys, insurance adjusters, and medical providers, court staff, personal representatives/executors of estates, and family members. Prepare necessary correspondence, liens, and other documents. Work, maintain, and manage active Casualty and/or Estate recovery cases. Perform basic legal research; compile various reports. Review medical claims histories; compile various reports.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: Completed High School diploma or GED is required, Associate’s degree is preferred Paralegal certificate desired. 1+ year professional experience – will rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines. Legal experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology a plus. Knowledge of probate procedures, rules and statutes a plus. Familiarity with Medicaid rules and regulations a plus. Strong communication skills and excellent organizational and prioritization skills. Ability to handle conflict appropriately and constructively and the ability to practice flexibility and adaptability in the work place.
