Legal Assistant I The candidate will provide comprehensive support to the legal unit in regard to complex, sensitive, and confidential legal matters. Document discovery requests; Collect and organize discovery materials from Family Services, Court Records, and other sources; Redact, and distribute discovery materials. Compose, prepare, and document formal motions and requests for certified documentation. Facilitate trial witness preparation; Compose and prepare subpoenas, identify service procedures, compose and document responses. Obtain, maintain, and distribute scheduling and calendar information obtained from Juvenile Court, Summons and Scheduling Orders, Notices of Hearing and Trials, and discovery schedule to legal staff and Family Services. Receive, document, and distribute incoming electronic shelter care notices, various affidavits and other legal documentation. Maintain legal files, retention, and storage organization for legal work and communication. Create and maintain records for statistical tracking, billing procedures, and reporting to the County Social Service Board. Deliver, obtain, and distribute correspondences from Juvenile Court, general mail and other communication requests. Provide backup assistance to the agency reception unit answering a high volume of telephone calls, verifying appointments, providing requested program and/or general service information, and directing incoming information to the appropriate workers. Act as secretary to the Social Service Board preparing and distributing meeting agendas, materials, and follow up correspondences, Attend monthly Board meetings and record minutes. Requires the completion of two years of college in pre-law or legal assistance and 2 years of legal research analysis work experience. Additional work experience as specified may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Computer literacy and regular attendance is required. A high level of verbal and written communication skills is also required. Closing Date: June 9, 2016
