Deputy Clerk III The candidate will perform a variety of clerical and technical functions in support of court operations. Receive complaints, petitions, dissolutions, and other case pleadings; verify completeness and accept fees as appropriate; set up case files and enter data; Accept motions, notices, stipulations, garnishments; review documents for proper form; distribute orders; Track for service and lack of prosecution; prepare, distribute notices and orders for service; prepare vital statistics report monthly; Calendar civil hearings and jury trials as required; coordinate judges’ calendars; Prepare and monitor warrants, summons, and orders to show cause; perform collateral actions as directed by judicial officer; Train other deputy clerks and perform other duties as requested. Clerk all types of hearings in the courtroom; ensure that hearings are on time; call court to order; keep accurate log notes; monitor equipment during hearings to ensure clear, uninterrupted recording is produced; administer oaths to witnesses and interpreters; schedule future hearing dates; receive and mark exhibits; After court, calendar hearings; prepare, distribute, and process all court paperwork including domestic violence, stalking, and sexual assault orders, judgments for possession, writs of assistance, child support orders and other court orders; Troubleshoot and repair recording equipment; prepare courtrooms for hearings; report/correct equipment problems; work with the IS department to adjust sound system as needed; ensure that supplies are available in the courtroom; Monitor outstanding bench warrants; handle sensitive and dangerous exhibits; take precautionary measures while handling cash or weapons. Greet customers, answer inquiries, provide court forms and direct customers to additional resources; answer telephone; perform notary services; Receive and accept for filing, receipt fees, process and update databases for new civil, child in need of aid, delinquency and probate files; Duplicate audio recordings and fulfill copy requests as needed. Outstanding work habits regarding attendance, punctuality, and leave usage.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Experience handling stressful situations with tact and diplomacy. Experience working or living in rural Alaska. Data entry experience. Ability to multi-task and work with numerous interruptions without losing track of each assignment. Experience working independently and as part of a team in a detail-oriented environment.
