Asbestos Legal Secretary Duties: Assists attorneys and paralegals through the performance of complex secretarial and clerical duties requiring knowledge of legal terminology and the legal process. Work with attorneys and paralegals in the preparation and filing of all court documents. Review and proofread all documents produced, check for proper formatting, spelling and grammatical errors; ensure that all attachments, exhibits or enclosures are intact before distribution or filing. Assimilate information from database to compile weekly trial charts. Draft letters, pleadings and subpoenas. Organize and follow up with records requests. Extensive use of Excel and Adobe Acrobat XI. Provide document production services in accordance with the requirements of assigned attorneys and paralegals. Maintain client files electronic scanning. Act as liaison between attorneys and paralegals with regard to prioritizing workload and deadlines. Communicate information and updates on projects to appropriate attorney or paralegal. Prepare assignments according to required specifications. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: 2 years working as a litigation legal secretary, asbestos/toxic tort experience preferred. Experience with electronic court filings in state and federal courts. Highly proficient in Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat XI. Proficient in PowerPoint. Ability to deal professionally and communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing both internally and externally. Ability to conduct and follow through with electronic court filings and knowledge of the state and federal court systems and their guidelines. Ability to pay close attention to detail, under deadlines constraints and changing work priorities, and complete work assignments logically and accurately. Proven ability to be flexible, be customer service oriented and work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to take direction, accept responsibility for assigned tasks and learn from problematic situations when they occur. Outstanding proofreading skills. Ability to regularly report to work on the days and times scheduled. Willingness and desire to attend training classes to maintain and increase technical skill sets.
