Intellectual Property Practice Assistant (Legal Secretary) Duties: Will provide support to assigned attorneys (and others as needed) in a fast-paced, exciting work environment in the firm's IP practice. Will be responsible for handling multiple dockets and assisting with filing deadlines for attorneys. Performing organizational tasks including paper and electronic files utilizing sophisticated software and detailed, precise procedures. Managing pending patent files and documents working with attorneys, paralegals, and other patent specialists as needed. Assisting with compiling patent filings and electronically filing with the PTO. Opening and flagging correspondence for docketing. Drafting client correspondence and preparing status reports as needed. Performing all other administrative duties of a practice assistant.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: 4+ years of relevant patent prosecution experience; familiarity with trademark prosecution preferred. Experience working in a law firm is strongly preferred. Significant experience with PTO filing procedures. Excellent organizational, communication, and client service skills. Ability to work independently and take the initiative to accomplish objectives in a timely manner. Demonstrate the ability to communicate ideas or positions in a professional manner promoting teamwork and a commitment to outstanding customer service. Demonstrate the ability to work within a team environment.
