The Legal Administrator provides critical litigation support to CONSUMER WATCHDOG’s Litigation Project attorneys, who represent consumers in high-profile litigation before administrative agencies and in court on all of CONSUMER WATCHDOG’s core issues. This is a full-time position. Day-to-day responsibilities will include: preparation and filing of legal pleadings with courts and administrative agencies knowledge of local court rules and procedures in California federal and state courts legal filing, including creating pleading indexes, organizing pleadings in date order, and maintaining chronological correspondence and research/notes files organizing, reviewing, and summarizing discovery documents reviewing and running time billing reports maintaining counsel/client database by case maintaining litigation calendar proofreading, cite checking and formatting final legal documents and correspondence in Microsoft Word performing factual and legal research retrieving documents from court websites and online databases such as Westlaw--communicating with potential clients other legal support tasks as needed. Candidates ideally will possess at least 4 years experience providing litigation administrative support, preferably in a law firm or public interest litigation setting, a desire to work in a collegiate office environment with other public-interest minded individuals, and a strong interest in consumer advocacy issues. Excellent computer research and word processing skills are required, including advanced proficiency in formatting legal documents in Microsoft Word and use of Excel. Must be very organized and able to work quickly to meet litigation deadlines.
