LawyerCorps Connecticut Fellows will be trained by Connecticut Legal Services, Greater Hartford Legal Aid, and New Haven Legal Assistance Association to work alongside Legal Aid career attorneys, manging full caseloads across a wide spectrum of urgent civil matters. Fellows’ work will focus on basic human needs of underserved residents involving such issues as homelessness, denial of educational access, domestic violence, disability, and veterans’ benefits. Key advantages for a LawyerCorps Connecticut Fellow are: • Opportunities to provide valuable, high-quality legal services to Connecticut’s neediest residents • Immediate hands-on experience and on-the-job mentoring in courtroom advocacy, policy advocacy, client relations, and other skills necessary to solving real-time client problems • Direct involvement in inspiring others to invest in providing legal services to the less fortunate in our communities • Opportunity to develop one-on-one, direct mentoring relationships with practitioners in the public, in-house, private, and judicial sectors
