Spring Public Interest Law Internship Students work closely with company’s policy and communications staff to assist in the preparation of policy recommendations by conducting legal research and drafting and editing amicus briefs and other publications. In addition, students will assist in company’s public education work to disseminate these recommendations to policymakers, the media, and the public. This would include preparing the initial draft of opinion pieces to be published in newspapers, making calls to relevant government officials to educate them about company’s recommendations, attending legislative hearings, and assisting in planning public education forums. Students will learn about the legislative process, how policy initiatives are publicized and promoted in Washington, and about the work of a variety of public policy and interest organizations in Washington and around the country. Students with an interest in law, politics, and government and a commitment to civil liberties are encouraged to apply. Duties include some administrative work. Must be currently enrolled in law school or recent law school graduate. Must have strong research and writing skills. Should be willing to work with experts and advocates of all partisan affiliations. Must have some prior volunteer or internship experience. Deadline: October 15th.
