Litigation - Whistleblower - CFTC
Community Education and Advocacy Intern The candidate will gain hands-on experience in development, community outreach and education at a national nonprofit organization specializing in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and HIV civil rights law. Assist staff in combating all forms of LGBT and HIV discrimination. Responsible for a variety of tasks including: event planning and execution; correspondence with donors, volunteers and others; community outreach; public education; conducting online research on a variety of topics; and various administrative tasks, including telephone coverage and data entry. Focus on areas in which candidate is particularly interested, subject to the needs of the office.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have law school and college student. Background in, or familiarity with, related issues, legal or otherwise is preferred. Should have a strong commitment to social justice, equality and civil rights issues, particularly those involving the LGBT and HIV-affected communities. Strong organizational skills are a must. Additionally, a desire to learn, strong communication, analytical skills and the ability to be a team player are a plus. Should be able to work in the office 12-24 hours per week during office hours.
