Legal Internship – Summer 2017 Duties: Legal Screening: Assist with the initial screening of unaccompanied minor children, conduct communication with child clients, adult sponsors, and other agencies, including making psycho-social and other referrals as needed. Legal Research: Research current trends in immigration law and family law, country conditions, and other federal laws to assist in case preparation. Case Management: Update case summaries, track important court dates and deadlines, process referrals and communicate with clients.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Enrolled in accredited JD Degree or LLM program. Exceptional academic credentials, strong writing skills and attention to detail. Experience in immigration and family law strongly preferred. Experience working with children and survivors of trauma and torture preferred. Professional fluency in Spanish preferred, though not required (Candidates who have advanced proficiency in Spanish are encouraged to apply.). Passionate about issues affecting unaccompanied immigrant children. Must be able to use own laptop during the internship. Duration: 10 consecutive weeks Deadline: January 23, 2017
