Legal Advocacy and Organizing Intern, Summer 2016 The law clerks assist with all aspect of Legal Advocacy and Organizing project including, advocating and providing legal services for transgender, gender-variant and intersex people in prisons, assisting in our public policy work, resource development, and assisting with the legal aspects of the Melenie Eleneke Grassroots Re-Entry Program. Clerks also conduct case research, update publications, and draft memos on a wide range of issues affecting Transgender, Gender-Variant, and Intersex people in the criminal (in)justice system. Must be a current law student. Preference will be given to students who have familiarity with Transgender-related issues, familiarity with the prison industrial complex and a passion for liberation. Excellent communication and writing skills are essential as is the ability to take initiative and see projects through completion.
