Global Public Policy Internship, Corporate - Summer 2017 Intern will have an opportunity to work with talented professionals who are leaders in their field, while being exposed to cutting edge legal and policy issues, including Internet policy, human rights, privacy, consumer protection and child safety. This is a great opportunity to work on issues that are likely to have a significant impact on the Company’s business, brands and consumers – as well as society more broadly – and play a role in developing effective strategies to address those issues. Will work with global Public Policy’s leadership in the following key areas: Strategic Policy Formulation. Identify emerging public policy issues related to company Company’s mid- and long-term business plans globally, and develop internal and external policy positions, strategies and analyses to influence the external environment and advance company’s business priorities. Work with business units and other internal partners on business strategies that impact public policy or require changes in public policy to be successful. Proactively identify opportunities that business strategies and product plans create to advance policy goals as well as emerging social, political, economic and public policy issues and trends that create business opportunities for company globally. Identify opportunities where company can meaningfully advance its policy agenda and recommend concrete strategies to address issues based on positions taken; work with counsel and business leaders to identify relationships that need to be cultivated to implement these strategies effectively. Should be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class, or be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months at time of application, or be currently participating in the company College Program, company Culinary Program or company Professional Internship Program. Must be currently enrolled as a first or second year law student pursuing a J.D. at an ABA-accredited law school OR pursuing a Master's degree in Public Policy or closely related field. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 is needed. Must have basic understanding of key global policy issues, such as Internet policy, intellectual property, human rights, privacy, consumer protection, child safety, anti-corruption, the environment, corporate governance, taxation and trade, and related international institutions and players. Should have basic understanding of legal, public affairs and government relations considerations in the policy process. Must have high level familiarity with the workings of NGOs, domestic and foreign governments, international organizations or industry groups.
