Legal Intern Interns under close supervision and with a strict adherence to confidentiality, the Legal Intern will provide support and complete assigned projects for the Office of the General Counsel for the period June 1-August 15, 2016. Assist with all activities related to clinical and non-clinical contracts management. Review and analyze clinical and non-clinical policies and procedures. Participate in compliance/quality/risk management reviews. Participate in briefings to the Executive Leadership Team on legal issues. Conduct legal research and analysis, prepare case and decision digests, memoranda and talking points, prepare executive summaries of issues, and otherwise assist attorneys in the Office of the General Counsel. The Legal Intern will be exposed to a wide variety of legal issues and subjects handled by the Office of the General Counsel, including HIPAA, Stark/Anti-Kickback/False Claims Act, Brown Act, patient safety and quality issues, Public Records Act, ethics, physician/non-physician contracting, conflicts of interest, trademark/copyright/intellectual property, labor and employment, employee benefits, and litigation (employment, general commercial, medical malpractice). Must be actively enrolled as a first- or second-year student at an accredited law school. Experience prefered: Healthcare/Privacy Law, Employment Law, Contract Law, Public Agency Law.
