Legal Clerk The clerk will be responsible for all accounts that proceed to legal action or forwarded to another agency or attorney for collections. Enters signed affidavits from our clients. Notarizes signed affidavits. Determines which attorney and legal rate to use when forwarding legal accounts for suit. Pulls/requests itemized statements to attach to the affidavits. Maintaining the Legal page on Sharepoint—uploading new business for attorney’s office and keeping track of the legal remits, court costs, attorney fees and probate fees. Assists the bookkeeping department with posting legal remits (outlines how to apply the payment). Responsible for mailing court cost checks and attorney fee checks to the attorneys. Maintains all legal units. Communicates continuously with attorneys to ensure our accounts are being handled appropriately (phone/fax/email). Handles all legal attorney mail, mail reminders and emails. Creates and maintains monthly progress reports on each attorney. Responsible for all attorney bonding. Responsible for forwarding accounts to other agencies. Maintains all forwarding units.
Qualification and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS: A High School Diploma. Knowledge of the legal process is preferred. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, regulations and rules concerning the insurance industry. Proven ability to organize and motivate. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software. Skill in communicating in a professional, pleasant manner. Well organized and detail-oriented. Ability to manage time and effectively multi-task. Ability to converse and respond to common inquiries from insurance entities. Ability to write business-related documents such as letters, emails and other business correspondence.
