Law Clerk - Internship Summer Program Law clerk will join the Organized Crime Task Force Division. The organizaion has organized Crime Task Force was formed in May 2013. The task force is co-sponsored by the organization's Office and the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, and is granted its authority under Section 177.02 of the Ohio Revised Code. Law Clerk may draft legal memoranda, motions, briefs in opposition, appellate briefs, and post conviction pleadings. May also organize files for trials, observe witness interviews, provide investigative support, create PowerPoint presentations for trials, compile exhibits, and observe trials and arguments before the Eighth District Court of Appeals. Working as a law clerk at the organization's enables law students to gain first-hand exposure to the criminal justice system and to local law enforcement. Students work closely with Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys who are investigating and prosecuting felony criminal cases, providing support to crime victims, and seeking to affirm criminal convictions on appeal, among other tasks. Assignment of clerks to various units will be based upon the applicant’s interest, background, skills, and the needs of the organization. Interns are assigned to various units within the CCPO including the major trial unit, the general felony unit, the cold cases unit, the appeals unit, the economic crime unit, the juvenile delinquency unit, the civil unit, and the children and family services unit. Good legal research and writing skills are essential. Note: Interns typically work full time during the summer.
